WHAT IS CBD?

Our experts’ draw on years of scientific expertise and research to explain of some of the most commonly used terms, such as cannabinoids, hemp, marijuana, CBD and THC.

WHAT ARE CANNABINOIDS?

Cannabis, hemp or marijuana are the common names for the flowering plants in Cannabaceae family, with the main species being Cannabis sativa L., Cannabis indica, and Cannabis ruderalis. These plants are made up of over 100 different naturally occurring chemical compounds called cannabinoids. Cannabidiol (CBD) and tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) are perhaps the most famous of the cannabinoids, but there are actually hundreds of other lesser-known ones including cannabichromene (CBC), cannabinol (CBN) and cannabigerol (CBG).

When we talk about full spectrum CBD oil, it is when the oil contains all of the cannabinoids present in the plant, rather than just isolated compounds.

CBD MADE SIMPLE

CBD stands for cannabidiol, a natural and non-psychoactive compound found in the Cannabis sativa L. plant, also known as the hemp plant.

Taking CBD is thought to activate the cannabinoid receptors in your body's endocannabinoid system. When these receptors are activated, they may contribute positively to your overall well being due to their involvement in pain, anxiety and mood regulation. Tincture oils are one of the most effective ways to take CBD as it's more easily absorbed by your body.

These days CBD can be found in everything from oils, capsules and topicals, to teas, gummies and skincare. Although not all products contain the same concentrations or levels of purity, so it's important so sort the claims from the facts.

WHAT IS THC?

THC stands for tetrahydrocannabinol, the psychoactive compound found in certain Cannabis sativa L. plants. It's what produces the euphoric or “high” effects associated with marijuana consumption, which contains elevated amounts of this compound. Products that contain less than 0.2% THC are legal in the UK.

Unlike THC, CBD is non-psychoactive, so it won't make you feel high or negatively impact cognitive function. CBII only uses plants grown with low levels of THC (less than 0.2%) and high levels of CBD, avoiding the euphoric or “high” effects associated with marijuana consumption.

Each product is third party tested and comes with its own Certificate of Analysis to prove the exact compounds within it for your peace of mind.

OUR EXTENSIVE QUALITY TESTING

Using proprietary technology, Linnea SA extracts our CBD according to European GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) guidelines giving a premium quality and non-GMO extract.

These systems of control and testing ensure a standardised and reproducible extract with the same consistent high-quality standards every time.

Each product receives a Certificate of Analysis from Linnea and we then go one step further by completing independent testing to further demonstrate the quality of our CBD products. The result? Clean and sustainable CBD products you can enjoy with confidence.

SUSTAINABILITY

What’s more, when Linnea SA completes our extraction, they recycle any of the plant matter they don’t use into renewable energy at their biogas facility in Switzerland. The energy is used to power local homes. Find out more about how we recycle and create our sustainable products and packaging.

TRACEABILITY

CBII is crafted from legally grown, non-GMO hemp plants, nurtured using controlled farming techniques aligned to GACP (Good Agricultural and Cultivation Practices). This closely monitored journey from extract to bottle ensures consistent quality you can rely on.
