Choice Cuts: Monster Rare Progressive Psych from Earth and Fire
Monster Progressive Psych 1971 UK first press 9-track LP on the very short-lived Nepentha label, the ultra rare self-titled debut album from the Dutch group, Earth and Fire
Mixing elements of Folk, Psych & Mod/Proto-Glam Rock to magnificent effect, with fuzz guitars & female Psych vocals in the style of Grace Slick, Linda Hoyle or Sharon Tandy. Includes the excellent singles, Wild & Exciting, Ruby Is The One & Seasons, & should only really be experienced through first press vinyl. Comes housed in a stunning Roger Dean designed gatefold die-cut sleeve.
The cover has been well looked after, with the die-cut areas all intact and no tears. Aside from a very small area of paper loss in the top left hand corner, only some light discolouration on the lighter areas of the sleeve and one or two scuffs it has stayed in superb condition for 50 years in the wild. The inside panels look majestic & have a nice matt textured finish with no blemishes, giving the sleeve an EX grading.
The vinyl has received a deep cleanse both sides on a top of the line Matrix machine & has come up looking sparkling. We have play tested both sides & it sounds immense. There really is no other way to own this one other than this colossal, loud & heavy first press.
The labels have no tears or writing, with only some light spindle marks by the centre hole to identify play. On close inspection, there are a couple of very faint paper scuffs and marks where the vinyl has reacted to the poly-lined inner, but other than some minor surface noise in between tracks it plays through beautifully and recieves a strong EX grading.
This is a staggering one owner copy, and only the third copy of this prized rarity we have seen in 30 years. With the condition and sound quality being as great as they are, there will be no need to upgrade after adding this to your collection. Essential
