[UK] COVID-19 travel testing to/from the UK
Before you book your tests:
If you need an outbound (fit to fly) negative test to enter your destination country:
- what type do you need (a PCR or Rapid Antigen)
- how many hours in advance (eg. 48hrs or 72hrs)
- and is this based on your arrival or departure time?
- does it need to be supervised?
If you're unsure about any of the guidance, please visit the UK's FCDO website to find out (for legal reasons, you'll have to check this yourself).
Outbound (fit to fly) Covid-19 travel tests
Fit to Fly (Supervised Rapid Antigen)
We do not require you to pre-book your supervised slot with Chronomics staff. Once you are ready to register your kit and perform the test, press register your kit button and you will be assigned the next available supervising agent. Please note that you will be waiting in the virtual room queue, therefore make sure you have at least 1h available in case there are more customers waiting at the same time.
With this test:
- Service available from 11th February 2022, everyday 9:00-18:00 UK time
- You will need a device that has a camera and a web browser
- Order at least 5 days before your outbound travel
- We’ll post the kit 4 days before your departure date (usually next-day delivery)
- Check the FCDO website to find out how far in advance of travel your destination country asks this test to be taken.
Fit to Fly (Rapid Antigen)
A rapid antigen (lateral flow) test that should be performed before you depart for your trip. You process the result yourself straight away.
With this test:
- Order at least 5 days before your outbound travel
- We’ll post the kit 4 days before your departure date (usually next-day delivery)
- Check the FCDO website to find out how far in advance of travel your destination country asks this test to be taken.
Fit to Fly (PCR)
An RT-PCR oronasal swab test that should be performed before you depart for your trip. You return your sample to a lab to be processed.
With this test:
- Order at least 7 days before your outbound travel
- We’ll post the kit 6 days before your departure date (usually next-day delivery)
- Check the FCDO website to find out how far in advance of travel your destination country asks this test to be taken.

- Order at least 5 days before your outbound travel
- You'll get your test kit 3 days before you travel
- You'll get your travel certificate within 30mins after performing the test
How It Works
Order your simple Chronomics Fit To Fly (Rapid Antigen) testing kit as soon as you are able to - ideally when first making your travel plans. Once you've received the kit, use the FCDO website to check when your destination country requires you to perform it. You only need an internet connection to be guided through the process, step by step - all the way to your result and any certification you need within 20 minutes. Easy!
Step 1: Buy
Buy your test online in advance - ideally at least 5 days before you’re due to fly out of the UK. We’ll send the kit to you within 48 hours.
Step 2: Register and get ready to go
When you’re ready, follow the simple and intuitive instructions in the kit to register the test online - making sure you're following the guidelines for your destination country [via the FCDO website](https://www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice).
Step 3: Take the test
Following the advice included, take the test using the swabs and the lateral flow device provided. It should only take a few minutes to do this.
Step 4: Get your result
Our Fit To Fly (Rapid Antigen) kits usually give you a result in just a few minutes. Once you’ve got one, confirm it with us and we’ll automatically generate a certificate to travel in your Chronomics online dashboard.
Step 5: Get going!
