Dotty Fish shoes are now podiatry tested

At Dotty Fish, we wanted our soft leather baby shoes to be podiatry tested and get the experts' seal of approval. We are very excited to partner with the London Podiatry Center to produce a short video that educates parents about the benefits of soft-soled shoes for children, especially in the early years. The London Podiatry Center has one of the most sophisticated gait analysis systems in the world. They used this equipment to test the Dotty Fish shoes and analyze the results. We are very proud to work with consultant podiatric surgeon Ron McCulloch and podiatrist Fran Campbell to see the benefits our soft-soled baby leather shoes have for young children. The video talks about the health of babies' feet and early foot development and how Dotty Fish soft-soled shoes are the ideal choice for children who are taking their crucial first steps.

Why we test our podiatry shoes

Baby holding soft leather Dotty Fish shoes while playing with her toesAt Dotty Fish, we've long known the benefits of soft-soled shoes for toddlers and toddlers. We always create shoes that not only look good, but are also good for growing feet. It was important for us to take a look at the science behind our philosophy. To run podiatry tests on our shoes and see if they lived up to it. We work with The London Podiatry Centre, one of the most advanced podiatry centers in the world, which has state-of-the-art gait analysis equipment and specializes in pediatric podiatry. The results were fantastic and really helped to reinforce our belief in the benefits of wearing less structured footwear. One that allows a child new to the floor to develop these skills naturally.

We work closely with the clinic and promote a good working relationship with them. The aim is to educate parents and daycare professionals about the health of children's feet and the right kind of shoes that babies, toddlers and young children should wear. At Dotty Fish, we want to offer a quality product that is an economical alternative to the first traditional shoes. Testing our shoes by experts and seeing the results has been a step in the right direction for us. A step that promotes healthy foot development in babies and first walkers.

Size Guide

My baby isn’t standing yet, how can I measure their foot?

For babies that are not yet standing we recommend you use a piece of paper stuck onto a book and then have a go at measuring their feet whilst they are asleep.

My child has wide feet, will your shoes fit their feet?

Please remember that width of the foot also plays a part. If your child has a particularly wide foot then a slightly bigger size may be better. If your child has narrow feet, then a smaller size may be a better fit.

Do I need to account for room for growth when referring to your size chart?

No you don’t, Dotty Fish shoes are approximately 1cm larger than the ‘recommended foot length’ section of our size guide. We add this 1cm for room for growth and comfort. We recommend you always base your sizing on our recommended foot lengths.

Your slippers have a fleece lining, do I need to size up because of this?

No you will not, our slippers are made slightly larger than our regular line of soft soled shoes. They are designed this way to make room for the fleece lining and thicker socks!

If I purchase the wrong size can I exchange them for the correct size?

Of course! You can find our full returns information here.

My child has a high instep, are your shoes suitable for them?

Yes, we have found that our shoes are suitable for children with a high instep, the elasticated ankles means they are easy to put on.
