Creating a perfectly balanced flavor depends on our highly experienced flavor team. The team is responsible for creating the depth of flavor, mouthfeel and texture that people expect from a Fentimans drink. To ensure quality and traceability, we take over the beverage manufacturing process from start to finish, with the simple ethos;
Once the natural botanicals have been obtained and prepared, the multi-stage botanical fermentation process begins...
We start by infusing botanical ingredients into boiling water to extract the natural flavors. Flavor extraction takes time and cannot be rushed. So does getting the flavor of a variety of botanical ingredients; the flavor creation process results in a concentrated, balanced botanical liquid that is ready to be fermented.
Fermentation
The metabolic process of fermentation, using live yeast, is the beginning of magic; Black art; alchemy; which is at the heart of a Fentimans drink.
Fermentation takes place for 7 days in classic open square fermentation tanks; allowing rich, complex flavors to slowly develop as the pear's yeast, sugar and natural juice come alive. It is during fermentation that a myriad of flavor compounds are created; which contribute to the overall depth, complexity and flavor of the finished liquid.
Flavor Creation
To complement and enhance the fermented botanical liquid, natural flavors and essential oils are internally extracted from ingredients of special origin; then mixed with the fermented botanical liquid. This results in indulgent, distinct and complex flavors.
Water and natural beet sugar are added before carbonation to make the liquid shine.
Pasteurization not only prolongs the shelf life of our beverages; the heating process also plays a role in fusing a variety of essential oils, botanical extracts and flavors.
The result is a rounded, smooth and balanced taste experience.
