History of hp
The history of hp began by chance, in 1938. Its name comes from the initials of the names of two friends who studied electronic engineering together at Stanford University. Their names are Bill Hewlett and Dave Packard, the two used to spend their summer vacations at a campsite in Colorado.
They started their activities, with only U$538.00 (Five Hundred and Thirty Eight Dollars), and set up their business in a garage in the city of Palo Alto, in the state of California. The invention was a low frequency audio oscillator by the name of hp 200A. This instrument was used by engineers of the time to test sound equipment.
This caused a paradigm shift, in terms of technology, as it was smaller and still had the advantage of being better and ultimately cheaper. It was an instant hit. So much so that one of its main clients was the studios of none other than Walt Disney!
In 1942 the company began to build its own headquarters. Thinking about its future - although inserted - a building was built in the grocery store style. That way, if the business didn't prosper, they could use the building for other businesses.
The hp was the first company to establish the open door system for all business areas. Thanks to this system, all employees felt more valued and eventually when they had to solve a problem, it became much easier to solve it.
This generated a kind of mutual trust between everyone, making the business more and more prosperous. In 1943, at the height of World War II, with only 100 employees, the company earned US$1 million that year.
In 1945, David Packard took over the management of the group, while Bill Hewlett took over the research part. Then, in 1947, the business started earning US$1 million a month.
In 1966, hp developed its first computer, called hp 2116A. It had only 4 KB of fixed memory and could be expanded up to 32 KB. This computer was used for 10 years on board an American Institute of Oceanography research vessel.
In 1968, they invented and began selling the world's first oscilloscope. This device was used to verify
possible faults in the electronic equipment. By connecting the oscilloscope to equipment ground, it was possible to know which fault was most likely, eliminating a lot of wasted time.
That same year, they released the first scientific calculator, called hp 9110A. Its great advantage was to be able to store programs on magnetic cards and thus perform scientific calculations without using central computers. Moreover, it was 10 times faster than any machine at the time.
.
In 1972, the hp launched its first pocket calculator, with the main advantage of being able to slip into a shirt pocket. It was used both for making complex calculations and even for everyday use.
In 1975, he participated in the design of the so-called "bus" system which would later adopt the famous name "Universal Serial Bus" (USB). Thanks to this system, we can connect up to 144 devices at once!
In 1977, they launched their first mini-laptop.
As early as 1980, they launched the first personal computer with the world's first laser printer.
And, for those who think the "touch screen" is a modern thing, know that the hp launched, in 1983, the first computer with this screen.
In 1984, they released the 96 dpi ThinkJet hp printer, using thermal inkjet technology for personal computers and laptops. It is important to note that this project started in 1978.
As we have seen, the hp company offers hundreds of products, but let's get down to business . Today, hp works with laptops, tablets, printers, ink and toners, monitors, accessories and solutions for small and large businesses.
