WHAT ARE POLYGEL NAILS?
Polygel nails are a new type of gel formula that you can use to create overlays or sculpt strong, lightweight nail extensions. It is stronger and more durable than traditional gel nail polish and much lighter than carving heavy acrylic nails.
Poligel is the texture of a paste that you can tap the shape with your brush and it will retain its shape. It's much thicker than regular gel nail polish or Builder Gel, and it also doesn't level itself, which means you can build a beautifully arched apex for your nail. Unlike acrylic nail extensions, Polygel does not harden or cure on exposure to air. This means you can take your time sculpting your nails and then curing them with an LED or UV lamp. It also doesn't have the strong smell of acrylic nails!
HOW LONG DO POLYGEL NAILS LASTS?
Polygel will last on your nails as long as you want and will grow perfectly, if applied and cared for correctly. Once cured, it does not splinter or flake off.
If you are using it to extend your nails, be sure to build a strong apex to give your nails balance and strength. This means adding a slightly larger lump of Poligel to the nail over the nail bed, so less pressure is applied to the nail tips when doing daily tasks like typing or washing, and less chance of cracking or breaking the nail extensions. .
You must also prepare your nails properly to ensure good adhesion. This preparation is exactly the same as you would for your regular gel polish. First, you need to push the cuticles back and remove any white or dead skin around the cuticle area. Next, you need to polish your nails with a sand plug to create some texture on the nail for the nail polish to adhere. You will also need to clean your nails with Prep & Wipe and Lint Free wipes to clean the nail bed and remove any dust or oil before applying the base coat.
Polygel nails are super resistant, as long as they are applied correctly, they do not break easily.
THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN POLYGEL AND BUILDER GEL
We cannot say that Polygel is better than Builder Gel or that Builder Gel is better than Polygel, as they are very different products. However, they can be used to add strength to the nail and to create extensions.
Builder Gel has a thinner consistency than Polygel and comes in a bottle with a brush. It is thicker and stronger than regular gel nail polish and can be used as a basecoat, topcoat and is great for gluing jewelry and nail decals. You can also build it in multiple layers as a strengthening layer over natural nails. If you would like to extend your nails with Builder Gel, you can! Using paper forms you can extend your nails up to 1cm in length by running the product over the tip of your natural nail and over the form. This can be built up in multiple layers, healing completely between each layer. Then you can pull out your paper form and file it in form.
Polygel is much thicker and has more paste consistency when compared to Builder Gel. It comes in a tube that you can squeeze out and, with the spatula tip of the double tip tool, you can wrap it around your nail. Like Builder Gel, you can also use it as a strengthening coating layer on your natural nail, putting it in place with the brush tip of the Dual Ended Tool dipped in a gliding solution to prevent it from sticking. You can also use it to extend your nail. But unlike Builder Gel, there are some ways to extend with Polygel and also create much longer extensions.
You can use paper forms or double forms to extend your nails using Polygel. When using paper forms, brush the polygel with the brush dipped in the gliding solution over the nail, and swipe the tip of the natural nail onto a paper form. Once cured, remove the paper form and file the nail into shape. Dual Forms are made of plastic, come in 12 different sizes and are reusable. With this method, you can tap the Polygel in place inside the Dual Form before placing the entire form over the nail. Next, you press the Polygel form onto your nail, applying pressure to the end of the cuticle first. After pressing the shape and Poligel onto the nail, wipe off any gel that may have passed the edge and cure. Once cured, you can remove the nail shape and file it into the desired shape.
Another way to extend your nails with Builder Gel and Polygel is with tips. Prepare the nails as you normally would and glue the finished tips to the natural nail or secure with the Gel Builder. Then add a layer of either Builder Gel or Poligel on top before curing.
