Meet the new generation of skin-ageing treatments

What types of skin-ageing do you treat?

Skin-ageing is inevitable, and it happens to every single one of us as we get older (and, hopefully, wiser). In the mirror, we see skin-ageing appear as fine lines, wrinkles, pigmentation (brown marks), sagging and pores that appear more visible, too.

The ageing of the skin is a natural process, which is caused by intrinsic factors (time) and extrinsic factors (the environment). Intrinsic ageing is the inevitable physiological process which makes the skin thinner and drier as you age, with more wrinkles and a gradual thinning of the dermis (the deeper layer of the skin that contains your collagen and elastin). Extrinsic ageing is caused by sun exposure, air pollution, smoking and poor nutrition, all of which contribute to the development of coarse wrinkles, loss of elasticity, laxity and a rough-textured appearance.

If you’re looking to fight the signs of skin-ageing, you can choose from the following skin goals in our online consultation.

  • Fight the appearance of fine lines + wrinkles
  • Make my pores less visible
  • Improve skin texture

What are the benefits of prescription ingredients?

With dermatologist-designed combinations of active ingredients, our personalised treatments are designed to pause and even rewind the signs of ageing. We use active ingredients with decades of evidence in fighting the visible signs of ageing and pigmentation, which also work hard to make your skin tighter and brighter, too. If you’re eligible for treatment, your personalised solution can include a combination of Retinoic Acid, Niacinamide and Azelaic Acid.

Retinoic Acid is one of the most effective ingredients available to dermatologists when it comes to treating skin-ageing. It’s effective in slowing the progression of fine lines, wrinkles and pigmentation as well as reversing them too. Retinoic Acid works to thicken the epidermis, reduce pigmentation and restore sun-damaged skin cells. It also works in the dermis to increase collagen, elastin and glycosaminoglycans, which plumps the skin.

Niacinamide is a powerful antioxidant which is well-tolerated by the skin. Niacinamide is proven to reduce fine lines, wrinkles and pigmentation, as well as reducing water loss and improving skin elasticity. It’s an effective anti-inflammatory agent which minimises the risk of irritation from the hardworking Retinoic Acid.

Azelaic Acid treats and defeats pigmentation by slowing down the production of melanin and helping to fight melasma and the pigmentation caused by sun damage and acne.

Where do I start with active ingredients?

Caring for your skin is a long term thing, not just a fling. In your first personalised solution, you’ll start off with lower concentrations of active ingredients to give your skin time to adjust to their properties, and to reduce the chance of irritation. Then, as the months progress, your concentrations and ingredients combinations will progress too, working hard to treat, defeat and prevent your signs of skin-ageing. Throughout your treatment journey, if you ever have questions, we’ve got answers. Just get in touch with our Dermatology Support Team, and we’ll be there for you.
