About chlamydia

Chlamydia is transmitted through sexual activity such as vaginal, anal and oral sex. It is also possible for the mother to pass it to the baby during vaginal birth. Chlamydia often has no symptoms, so it is advisable to have tests every time you change your sexual partner.

We have a simple test that confirms or rules out the occurrence of chlamydia. The test will also check whether the infection has completely disappeared after any treatment. You must remember that this will only identify a Chlamydia infection; will not look for any other sexually transmitted diseases. For a more extensive sexual health checkup, you will need one of our full STD screenings or you can have a joint chlamydia and gonorrhea test.

What happens if the result is positive?

Don't worry, chlamydia is very easy to treat with antibiotics.

How long does the chlamydia test take to process?

After we receive your sample, it takes 24 hours.

Can I be sure the result is correct?

It's the same test you would get from most private GPs. Our laboratory, TDL Pathology, is one of the leading scientific laboratories in Britain and has extensive experience in this field.

If I have chlamydia, what happens if I don't do anything about it?

Treating chlamydia at an early stage dramatically reduces the chances of future complications. If ignored, it can lead to, among other things, blockage of the fallopian tubes, pelvic inflammatory disease, ectopic pregnancy and infertility in both men and women.

If I think I might be at risk, how long should I wait to get tested?

We recommend that you get tested immediately. If you are going to be tested after a risk event, we recommend waiting 2 weeks. You can test immediately in these circumstances, but if the result is negative, we will always recommend retesting.

Do I need to be tested for gonorrhea?

I want to check for gonorrhea. Can I take a test?

Gonorrhea can be spread through unprotected sex. It doesn't matter if it's vaginal, anal or oral; if one person is infected, the other can get it. The mother can also pass it on to the baby during childbirth. Symptoms of the disease can include discharge from the vagina or penis, discomfort when urinating, and, in women, bleeding not associated with menstruation. It is estimated that about 10% of men and almost 50% of women do not have any symptoms.

We can provide a test that will identify any traces of the Gonorrhea bacteria. The test can also confirm that the infection has been eradicated by any treatment. It is important to remember that this test is designed for gonorrhea only; it won't catch any other diseases, for that you would need our full STD screening, which will identify other infections.

What is the procedure for the gonorrhea test?

We will send the test by mail. It will usually come the day after your contact. You provide a urine sample or vaginal swab and return it to us. Once we have it, our technicians will do the analysis. In one day, you will be able to access the result on our website using your unique login and password. We can also notify you by text message.

What happens if the result is positive?

In most cases, we can send you antibiotics to treat you. They will be mailed overnight on the day we receive your test results, so you can start your course the next morning. You just need to follow the online procedure.

How long will this gonorrhea test last?

We are one of the fastest online testing organizations. You will normally receive the trial pack the morning after you place your order, provided you contact us before 5:00 pm on weekdays. When we get the test back, it takes us a day to analyze and produce the results.

Can I be sure the test result is correct?

The test we use is widely used by doctors across the country. TDL Pathology, which analyzes the samples for us, is one of Britain's leading scientific laboratories and is an expert in this field.

What if I have gonorrhea but don't do anything about it?

When there's something wrong, it's best to act immediately. Treating gonorrhea immediately is an effective way to ensure that there are no further complications. Without treatment, the infection can spread to other parts of the body and cause pelvic inflammatory disease and ectopic pregnancy in women, as well as infertility in both sexes.

If I think I might be at risk, how long should I wait to get tested?

Gonorrhea will not show up on a test for about 7 days after you get it. You can get tested within this time, but if the result is negative, we will always recommend a new test.
