At HIGHR, we are building the cleanest supply chain in the beauty industry transparently. Below you can explore how we do everything we can to be as sustainable as possible across all areas of the business, and our plans for the future.
AIR
By purchasing a HIGHR Lipstick, you are saving 5.8 lbs of carbon dioxide from entering the atmosphere. HIGHR has been Carbon Neutral from Day 1. We've focused on reducing our carbon emissions by utilising clean solar energy for formulating and then offsetting the balance of our operational carbon. We have successfully negated a total of 43.1 metric tonnes of operational greenhouse gas emissions, the equivalent of taking 9.2 cars off the road for a whole year!
To calculate our total operational carbon offset, we track our product and employee's daily travel, freight, facilities, shipments, accommodations, tube manufacturing facility, and warehouse with Native Energy to offset any and all operational carbon.
EARTH
HIGHR formulas are plant-based, and we utilise ingredients in their purest form. We do not use any ingredient that has been shown through research to be an environmental toxin, to bioaccumulate, or to harm biodiversity. These include all forms of liquid microplastics / plasticisers, such as Polyethylene and any form of PEG. We also self-regulate by banning any form of Palm Oil unless proven to be sustainably harvested. All silicones are also banned for us, and we innovate with plant-based alternatives in their place.
WATER
The beauty industry produces 120 billion units of plastic every year. We're tackling this issue by choosing metal over plastic everywhere we can, using 100% upcycled and biodegradable boxing materials for all single use packaging in our supply chain, as well as donating £1 for every waitlist submission we receive to ocean plastic clean up efforts. SUN
We used 100% clean solar energy to formulate HIGHR Lipstick. This significantly reduces the carbon emissions in our supply chain, and we then offset the remaining operational carbon.
Switching to a clean energy provider can dramatically lower your overall carbon footprint. We followed the WWF recommendations and used The Big Clean Switch to find a clean tariff for our London office and warehouse.
