What is a contract phone or Pay Monthly deal?
A contract phone deal is where you pay a monthly fee to a mobile network (iD Mobile in this case) for your service. Contracts for phones are often available up to 24-month contracts - but can be as long as 36 months. As part of the monthly fee, you get a renewing package of tariff allowances (minutes, texts and data) to use every month and you'll also receive a phone handset. At iD Mobile all of our phone contracts are 24 months long. Depending on the Pay Monthly contract there may be an upfront cost to help cover the cost of the phone - but this usually means that you'll pay less each month. Plus, anything you use which doesn't fall within your pay monthly allowance will be added to your next bill.
Why should I choose a contract phone?
One of the best things about phones on contract is that you don't have to pay the full cost of the handset upfront. With pay monthly contract phones, you can spread the cost by paying the amount on your mobile contract each month and you'll pay off the full amount over the course of your contract. This is great if want to purchase a brand new phone that was just released. Don't worry about keeping topped up as you'll get a monthly allowance of data, minutes and texts as part of your contract with our phone deals. It's better value than Pay As You Go plus the monthly stress-free Direct Debit payment takes care of everything. Phones on contract often mean that you can pick up a free gift with your handset, especially on the latest releases. Plus, paying your monthly phone contract on time can also help improve your credit rating.
What's the difference between a contract phone and a SIM Only plan?
If you use contracts for phones, alternatively described as using pay monthly plans, it means you can get the latest handset and spread the cost over the total length of the contract. This is in addition to your monthly allowance of minutes, texts and data to use the way you want. A SIM Only plan means you'll only get a SIM which allows you to use a certain number of minutes, texts and data each month. A SIM plan is cheaper than a phone contract but you'll need to already own a phone or buy one separately before you can use it.
Do I have to pay an upfront cost for contract phones?
If the phone you're after is an expensive model, such as the latest Apple iPhone, it's more likely to have a small upfront cost attached to the phone contract. You're also likely to pay a little more each month - but it still works out as a great value option to have the phone on contract. Slightly older pay monthly mobile phones often come without an upfront cost. They're a great choice of mobile phone deal if you want to keep the monthly cost a little lower too.
What contract phones can I get?
At iD Mobile, all our monthly phone deals are available on contract. So, you can get your hands on top brands like Apple, Samsung, Huawei or Oppo and pay for your device in affordable monthly instalments.
