THE POWER OF SCENT
We take pride in what is on the inside; the parts you cannot see. Our scents are; vegan , leaping bunny certified, free from phthalates, artificial colorants, parabens, and formaldehydes – adhering to the highest clean beauty standards possible. Synthetic and natural fragrances are a hot topic in the world of perfumery. We do not want to take sides, but rather illuminate our views on the debate, expressing our transparent opinion as a conscious fragrance brand.

Vegan perfume. Why?
We believe the best scents use natural or synthetic ingredients to protect animals and in turn the planet, allowing your scent to be as mesmerising as ever, but with a clean conscience.
Cruelty-Free leaping bunny certified, why?
The Leaping Bunny is the globally recognisable gold standard for cruelty free consumer products. It demonstrates that a brand is genuinely committed to removing animal testing from its supply chain.
Our commitment to natural-leaning and synthetics. Why?
Alongside the high-quality natural ingredients that we care so much about at Sana Jardin, we do use formulations that include some consciously selected synthetic ingredients. Although we strive to use a high percentage of natural ingredients and essential oils wherever possible, we believe the selective use of quality synthetics is necessary to enable sustainable sourcing, and to create multi-dimensional formulations with staying power that denotes luxury perfume. We do this due to some simple facts. Firstly, for some endangered plant species, synthetics offer the best environmental choice over natural ingredients, as they ensure sustainable sourcing and prevent over-farming. The use of synthetics also prevents the opportunistic sourcing of natural ingredients from conflict-torn regions.
Furthermore, synthesizing ingredients enables perfumers to capture unique, exclusive scents. These scents deliver a precision and consistency to formulations that are not possible with natural ingredients. This scent quality means that many perfumers describe high-quality synthetics as the perfect partner to the effusive beauty of natural ingredients.
At Sana Jardin, we believe our fragrances marry natural and human-made notes to mesmerizing effect. Delivering the exquisite, lush beauty of nature’s most exotic scents with sparkling clarity and presence.
We are always working to improve our formulations and have recently made some tweaks to our formulations as we are committed to clean, sustainable fragrance. We have further updated the list of ingredients we choose not to formulate with. Our cruelty-free products continue to be free from phthalates, artificial colorants, parabens, and formaldehydes and now also free from BHT, Polycyclic Musk’s and vegan. Shop the collection.
THE SCENTED ALCHEMY OF VANILLA
There’s something about the scent of vanilla that has an element of reassurance, making us feel as if all is right with the world. Particularly great for when the weather turns colder – the comforting whiff of vanilla is like coming home and climbing into a warm bath after a long walk through the snow.
And while vanilla is part of a relatively modern trend for sweeter, ‘gourmande’ scents, its use in fragrance dates back over a century. This mellow spice came into fragrant fashion in the early 1900s, with many of the grand Parisian perfumeries combined it with amber, musks and spices from the Eastern world. Since then it has featured in some of the most iconic perfumes in history, its addictive nature causing the bottles to fly off the shelves.
As well as its soothing and uplifting qualities, vanilla has a more seductive side too. According to old Totonac legend, the vanilla plant was in fact, an incarnation of Xanat, daughter of the Mexican fertility goddess who – unable to marry her beloved – transformed herself into a vanilla vine, to provide pleasure and happiness to all who encountered it. Elsewhere, in North Africa, vanilla is traditionally burnt to attract love, increase libido and sharpen the mind.
When used properly in fragrance, vanilla should be mellow and not overly sweet – but warm and rich enough to withstand the cold weather (when it can be trickier to catch a whiff of any perfume one happens to be wearing).
Sana Jardin’s latest creation, Vanilla Nomad sends the wearer on a spiritual sugar high, with sensual, earthy undertones echoing the burning embers of vanilla lava rocks that founder Amy Christiansen discovered on her travels, while wandering through the souks of Marrakech.
While sources of comfort may have been in short supply over the past few months, the rich, grounding notes of ‘Vanilla Nomad’ should provide a welcome olfactory respite to soothe any frazzled souls and restore equilibrium.
Inspired by Mahmoud Guinia's - Sast Demanio, a Gnawa musician. We get inspired as he plays his healing, primal beat, in a moment of reflection, connectedness and gratitude. It feels as if the rhythm of the earth prevailed above all else.
