More about Giffgaff Recycle recycling website.

Giffgaff is a mobile phone network with a difference. We don't believe in unfair mobile contracts, that's why we have worked in collaboration with our members to give them a better-cheaper-fairer network to keep them connected. Giving our members the option to pay for their phone, separately from their monthly goodybag, over a selectable period of time, is a new way to do mobile that is flexible and affordable. We launched Marketplace in April 2016 whereby we sell pre-owned phones to our members. We then launched Trade-In in January 2017 which enables consumers to trade-in their old mobile phone for cash. We believe in being open which is why we accept phones from all networks and if we can’t refurbish the phone, we will recycle it in the UK. Consumers can expect to be paid within one business day of their phones arrival and we also return phones for free where the consumer is not happy with the final price.

We accept defective phones. Answer our four simple phone condition questions to get an estimated quote. After we've evaluated and tested your phone, we'll send you an email if the quote changes. Usually, this only happens if your phone's condition doesn't match the condition for which we originally provided a quote. If you are not satisfied with the revised quote, you can request that the phone be returned free of charge.

Please make sure you have removed the sim from your old phone before sending it to us. This is important because it contains a lot of personal details. We cannot accept any responsibility if you ship your phone with a SIM still inside. All received SIMs will be safely and securely destroyed. We cannot return your SIM if you send it to us by accident. Also be sure to remove all external memory cards (ie MicroSD cards). We cannot send memory cards back if you leave one in your phone. Memory cards will be discarded.

How does giffgaff evaluate the price of your phone?

Giffgaff partners with Ingram to evaluate your phone. Ingram specialises in e-waste recycling. Once your phone arrives at giffgaff, it’s checked to make sure it’s the same phone you described. Then the phone undergoes a quality check which covers every aspect of the phone - screen, camera, battery, WiFi, etc. If for any reason you’re not happy about the offer, giffgaff will send your phone back to you for free - you needn’t spend a penny.

The first part is testing the smartphone with certified testing equipment called Blackbelt, which checks that all major functions of the device work correctly. This is all done by our team of testers who consider each device individually. The software checks for screen damage, battery life, and the key functions of the device. The next major part is data wipe, also done with Blackbelt. All devices are wiped of any data and they get a certificate at the end, so customers can be confident that it’s cleared of any personal details. Once the device has passed the testing process you’ll be paid as soon as possible. This usually means within one working day of your phone arrival.
