How Omega-3 Benefits You and Your Baby

Having adequate levels of Omega-3 (especially DHA) in your body is essential at every stage of the pregnancy journey.

Omega-3 fatty acids are components of every cell in your body and are particularly important for your heart, circulation, brain, eyes, and everyday health.

The omega-3 fatty acid DHA (docosahexaenoic acid) contributes to the normal development of the brain and eyes of unborn and breastfed babies. DHA is also a necessary component of the eye and is important for normal vision and eye health.

Research shows that DHA levels that are too high or too low are not ideal for you or your baby, which is why understanding your Omega-3 levels is so important.

What is MyOmega?

Our MyOmega service provides you with a personalized Omega-3 recommendation based on a sample of your blood or breast milk.

This helps you understand what changes you need to make to improve your Omega-3 levels for the health and well-being of you and your baby.

How MyOmega works:

1. Buy your test kit from MINAMI®.

2. Receive your test kit and remove the contents from the small plastic bag provided.

3. Register your test kit at omegaquant.com/minami using the barcode on the collection card (you will not receive your results unless you are registered)

4. Collect your sample by following the step-by-step instructions provided:

Prepare for the finger stick by improving your blood flow. You can do this by washing your hands with warm water while standing, and then waving your hands to the sides.

Then wipe the tip of your finger (index, middle, or ring) with the included alcohol wipe and let it dry naturally.

Twist the blue protective cover off the lancet and gently place it on your clean fingertip. Press firmly on your finger until you hear a clicking sound.

Wipe the first drop of blood with the gauze and gently squeeze your finger to allow a drop of blood to form. This can take 15-30 seconds, so be patient.

Let the blood run from your finger onto the collection card in the center circle, then apply pressure to your finger with the gauze, before bandaging the puncture site.

Allow the blood sample to dry with the flap open for several minutes, then fold the flap of the collection card to cover the dried blood drop.

Place the sample collection card in the plastic bag and seal the bag.

5. Place your sample bag in the prepaid return mailing envelope and mail it the same day.

6. Receive your personalized MyOmega test results by email.

Note: For the MyOmega Postnatal Breast Milk Test, you will follow a similar process, but will instead place a drop of milk on the filter paper in the circle, which can be dropped directly from the nipple or from a fresh milk bottle or thawed. breast milk.
